Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Details

Background Information

Although the Links web part exists in each Project Workspace by default, it does not exist in the WSS site for Project Web Access.  Therefore, you need to create the Web Part for the WSS site for PWA, and then you can add it to the Home page.

Resolution

To create the Links web part for the WSS site for PWA, complete the following steps:

1.  Log into Project Web Access with Administrator permissions.

2.  In the upper right corner of the page, click the Site Actions pick list menu and choose the Create item on the menu.

3.  In the Tracking section on the Create page, click the Links item.

4.  Give the new Web Part an original name and then click the Create button.

5.  Click the Home link in the upper left corner of the page to return to the Home page in PWA.

Once you have created the new Links web part, you can add it to the Home page in PWA by completing the following additional steps:

1.  In the upper right corner of the page, click the Site Actions pick list menu and choose the Edit Page item on the menu.

2.  Click the orange Add a Web Part button at the top of the section in which you want to add the Links web part (for example, in the Footer section.

3.  In the Lists and Libraries section of the Add Web Parts dialog, select the checkbox new Links web part.

4.  Click the Add button.

5.  In the Links web part, click the Edit menu button and choose the Modify Shared Web Part item.

6.  In the expanded sidepane on the right, expand the Appearance section.

7.  In the Appearance section, click the Chrome Type pick list and choose the Title Only item.

8.  Click the OK button to close the sidepane on the right.

9.  Click the Exit Edit Mode button in the upper right corner of the Home page in PWA.

After adding the new Links web part to the Home page in PWA, you can add links in the section by clicking the Add New Link shortcut in the section.
