Load Summary Resource Assignments checkbox is disabled in the Login dialog

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Overview

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Details

Background Information

When a user launches Microsoft Project Professional, the "Show Summary Resource Assignments" checkbox is disabled (grayed out) in the Login dialog of Microsoft Project Professional 2010.  Because of this, the user cannot choose whether to show summary resource assignments in the Resource Usage view of any enterprise project.

Resolution

The cause of this problem is specifying the Computer login account as the default Project Server account.  To resolve this issue, do the following:

1.  Launch Microsoft Project 2010.

2.  In the Login dialog, click the Profile pick list and select the Computer option.

3.  Click the OK button.

4.  Click File > Info > Manage Accounts.

5.  In the Project Server Accounts dialog, select an account for a Project Server instance (NOT the Computer account), and click the Set as Default button.

6.  In the lower left corner of the dialog, confirm that the "Choose an account" option is selected.

7.  Click the OK button.

8.  Exit and relaunch Microsoft Project 2010.

You should now see that the "Load Summary Resource Assignments" checkbox option is enabled.  Either select or deselect this option and then click the OK button to log into Project Server 2010.
