Background Information

The default permissions in Project Server 2003 and 2007 allow members of the Project Managers group to open only their own projects Read/Write. These permissions do not allow Project Managers to view or open anyone else’s projects.

Resolution for Project Server 2003

The Project Server administrator should complete the following steps:

1.  Log into PWA with Administrator permissions.

2.  Click Admin - Manage Users and Groups.

3.  Click the Groups link in the sidepane.

4.  Select the Project Managers group and click the Modify Group button.

5.  In the Categories section of the page, select the My Organization category from the list on the right.

6.  In the Permissions grid of the Categories section, set the Open Project permission to Allow.

7.  Make sure that neither Allow or Deny is checked for the Save Project permission.

8.  Click the Save Changes button.

Resolution for Project Server 2007 and 2010

The Project Server administrator should complete the following steps:

1.  Log into PWA with Administrator permissions.

2.  Click Server Settings > Manage Groups.

3.  Click the name of the Project Managers group to open it for editing.

4.  In the Categories section of the page, select the My Organization category from the list on the right.

5.  In the Permissions for My Organization grid, set the Open Project permission to Allow.

6.  Make sure that neither Allow or Deny is checked for the Save Project to Project Server permission.

7.  Click the Save button.
