How do I publish only selected tasks in Project Server 2007?

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Overview

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Details

Background Information

In Project Server 2002 and 2003, a user can publish selected tasks only by selecting the tasks and then clicking Collaborate > Publish > New and Changed Assignments, or Collaborate > Publish > Republish Assignments.  In the resulting dialog, the system chooses the Selected Items option in the pick list at the top of the dialog. When you click the OK button, the system publishes only the selected tasks to the Project Web Access.

Resolution

To publish only selected tasks in Project Server 2007, complete the following steps in the enterprise project using Project Professional 2007:

1. Apply any Task view, such as the Gantt Chart view.

2. Right-click on the column header to the right of the Task Name column and click the Insert Column item from the shortcut menu.

3. In the Column Definition dialog, click the Field Name pick list and select the Publish field from the list.

4. Click the OK button.

By default, the system sets the value in the Publish field to Yes for every task.

5. For each task that you do not want to publish, set the Publish field value to No.

6. Click File > Publish to publish only the tasks whose Publish field value is set to Yes.
