The query could not be processed displays on OLAP page

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Overview

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Details

Background Description

When you access Data Analysis the page displays the error "The query could not be processed" and on the next line displays "Safety settings on this machine prohibit accessing a data source on another domain."

Resolution

Ther are more than one possible cause for this problem, however the most likely cause is browser settings. To rule out the most common cause, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer and then click the Tools menu.
  2. Click "Internet option", and then click the Security tab.
  3. Click "Trusted sites" -> "Site" and add the Data Analysis site as a trusted site.
  4. Click the "Custom Level" button. Under Other, enable Access data sources across domains", click OK. - Note: In Internet Explorer 7, this option is under Miscellaneous.
  5. View the Data Analysis to determine whether this resolved the issue.

Other things to check:

  1. Store your user credentials for the site using Manage Passwords feature for User Accounts, access this from Control Panel
  2. Make sure that you have installed MSXML 6 on your workstation (Available from Microsoft Downloads)
  3. Make sure that you have installed the OLEDB 9 Provider (Available from Microsoft Downloads)

On the Microsoft Download site at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ search for the SQL Analysis Services 2005 Feature Pack where you will find MSXML 6 and the OLEDB 9 Provider
