After adding a custom enterprise Field to the My Assignments view, the column contains no data on the My Tasks page in PWA

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Overview

Microsoft Project Server Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Details

Background Information

When creating custom Task field intended for use in the My Tasks page, Project Server administrators often overlook one subtle yet important option. Failure to select this option leaves team members with a column that contains no data and is not editable in the My Tasks page in PWA.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, the Project Server administrator must complete the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with Administrator permissions.

2. Click Server Settings > Enterprise Custom Field Definition.

3. Click the name of the custom field used in the My Tasks view to open it in editing mode.

4. In the Calculation for Assignment Rows section, select the Roll down, unless manually specified option.

5. Click the Save button.

Important Note: In addition to the preceding steps, the project managers in the organization may also need to open and publish each of their projects using File > Publish to force the information to appear in the custom field in the My Tasks page.
