Background Information

Project Server stores Project-Server authenticated account passwords as encrypted data in the SQL Server database.

Resolution

If you forget the password that you entered for the Administrator account while installing Project Server, you can reset the password by completing the following steps:

1. Launch the SQL Server Enterprise Manager and log in with administrator permissions

2. Select the Project Server database

3. Select the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table and return all rows

4. Select the record for the Administrator account and delete the encrypted password in the WRES_PASSWORD

5. Close the SQL Server Enterprise Manager

6. Log into Project Web Access using the built-in Administrator and with a blank password
